

Joseph (Joe) Thatcher was born October 11,1964 to Paul and Anne Thatcher in Cleveland, Ohio. The youngest of 3, he adored and annoyed his 2 big sisters most of his life. He spent most of his childhood in Indianapolis, Indiana and moved to Michigan as a young teenager. He would say he is a “Buckhoogander”. Joe graduated from Lake Orion High School in 1983. He attended Central Michigan University with a major in media and communication. He also attended the Motion Picture Institute, where he tuned his love of making movies and met many wonderful friends and collaborators. Joe lived life to the fullest, always ready with a “Joeism”, smart remark, or stupid dad joke. He always tried to make everyone laugh and took great joy in telling his nieces and nephews the “Cinderelli” story.
He loved to play euchre with the Geek Squad on Friday nights and create memories and quotes. Joe also enjoyed his time in the BAGS cornhole league. He had a love of music, movies, anything Star Wars, rockets, and space. Joe also had his own business doing aquarium maintenance for over 20 years. He also had a deep love for his family.
He is survived by his wife Michelle Thatcher, step children Cameron Mall, Collin Mall, and Cara Mall, his dad Paul Thatcher, sisters Kimm Buckmaster and Margaret Thatcher, nephew Kenny (Stephanie) Urben , nieces Emily Bates, Krystal (Brion) Kilpela, Katie (Mike) Carpenter, Kelsi Buckmaster, Lydia Bates, Michelle Buckmaster, Jessica Buckmaster and 7 great nieces and nephews, many cousins, and his mother in law Geri Hofmann and sister in law Gina Hofmann. He passed into his new life on March 23, 2025 with his wife at his side.
Joe was predeceased by his mother Anne Thatcher and Grandparents Paul and Evelyn Thatcher and Joseph and Margaret Pinkham.
A memorial visitation for Joseph will be held Saturday, April 12, 2025 from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM at A. H. Peters Funeral Home, 20705 Mack Ave, Grosse Pointe Woods, MI 48236, followed by a memorial service at 3:00 PM.
