Julia "Baby Sister" Jones-Gilliard

Julia "Baby Sister" Jones-Gilliard, age 78, a resident of Harper Woods, passed away Thursday, May 3, 2018. Julia was born September 5, 1939 in Memphis, Tennessee. Julia loved traveling and shopping. She was very active at her church, Tennessee Missionary Baptist Church in Detroit. She taught Sunday school, was involved in youth ministry, and was also an usher. To relax in her free time she was always studying her bible and strengthening her relationship with Christ. Julia worked and retired from the Detroit Medical Center and the Barbara Ann Karmanos Institute in 2011. She will be missed. Beloved wife of the late Alfonso. Loving mother of Toni Benson and the late Anthony Benson. Grandmother of Remy Williams, Preston Williams, and Anieya Gordon. Dear sister of Henry Benson, Robert Benson, Sr., and Willie Mae Jones. Preceded in death by her siblings, Martha Robinson and Rose Matthews. A memorial gathering will take place on Thursday, May 17, 2018 from 4-8 PM at the A.H. Peters Funeral Home, 20705 Mack Ave. at Vernier Rd., Grosse Pointe Woods 48236.
