Karen A. Shamie

Karen Shamie died Nov. 2, 2014 at the age of 62. She was the loving daughter of Tatiana and the late George Shamie. She is survived by her sister of Linda Mackool (Mike). Adored aunt of Andrea Ferris (Corey) and Michael. Great-aunt of Lillana Ferris. Also survived by many loving cousins. She will be missed by all. Karen was born deaf, mute and mentally disabled but still continued to live a happy life. Her greatest joy came from being part of her family during holiday and social celebrations, especially her birthday! The smile she had on her face during those happy times will always be treasured and kept in everyone's memory that knew her. She is singing with the angels in heaven! Visitation Tuesday 2-9 pm at A.H. Peters Funeral Home, 20705 Mack Ave. at Vernier Rd., Grosse Pointe Woods, with a Trisagion at 7 pm. In state Wednesday from 10 am until time of funeral 11 am at St. George Antiochian Orthodox Church, 2160 E. Maple Rd, Troy, 48083. Memorial donations designated for the O'Connor Group Home may be payable to Linda Mackool or contributions may be made to the Church.
