Our deepest sympathies to Susan and Ben with the passing of Kenny. I met Ken running on Belle Isle in 1977. He was a true friend and inspiration. We ran the Boston Marathon together in 1978 and did many laps around the island over the next 20 years discussing the the world's problems. We now live in S.W. Florida. The last time I saw Kenny and Benjamin was at a Michigan game in 2012. I took a photo of them both with their Rose Bowl rings in the fore ground. A great memory I'll hold forever in my mind. I had the pleasure of working with Ken at Chevrolet in the late 70s, and we remained good friends for all these years. He inspired Donna and I to start running and he introduced me to racquetball. His passion for these activities was overshadowed only by his sense of humor and his presence. What a great guy! Our condolences to you, Susan, on this very sad occasion. Donna and I have spent a lot of time reminiscing about "the good old days" since learning of Kenny's passing and I can honestly say that ALL the memories have been wonderful. May he rest in peace!

Having worked with Ken for a number of years at the GM Technical Center, I grew to respect his wonderful sense of humor and optimistic outlook. He was a great man, with an unending list of entertaining stories and always had a smile when he greeted everyone.

I've known Ken since his student/athlete days and had the pleasure of seeing him and his son Benjamin in Ann Arbor on football weekends periodically over the years. He had a larger-than-life quality - a booming voice and a brotherly greeting - that endeared him to all who knew him. His passing is a loss to his friends and family, but his memory will live with all of us forever. Those who knew him will appreciate that it is a high compliment to say he was truly a good man. He was also a great father and friend.

In our many years of running together Ken and I used to joke that we solved all the problems of the world. In reality we formed a true friendship where we talked away our own little problems. First and foremost, he was totally dedicated to his family. "Saint Susan" certainly at the top, but Benjamin and Jennifer weren't far behind. Ken was so proud of Benjamin - it was great to see father and son become inseparable friends. Ken was smart, generous, funny, self-deprecating, a man of absolute integrity, and as loyal a friend as you'll ever find. 50 years ago, we met as pledge brothers at the Michigan Alpha Chapter of Phi Kappa Psi. Although we sang songs about enduring bonds of friendship, we couldn't have imagined back then just how strong and valuable those bonds would become. Ken was more than my fraternity brother; he became part of my extended family as though we were my biological brother. We'll miss you Kenny. We'll have to recruit someone else to organize our lunches, someone else to coordinate "Vid weekend" (Ben already stepped up last year). What we can't replace is the deep friendship and love. However that loss is offset by the great memories and strong legacy Ken leaves behind. When we spoke by phone a few days ago, Ken sounded better than he had for a while. His humor was in full display, he was pumped up for Vid's visit in September, he seemed to have turned a corner. That context made the news of his passing that much harder to comprehend. I'm awfully glad that the last words Ken heard from me were, "Hey, I love ya', Bro." You left the place far better than you found it. Well don, Kenny.
