

Lamote, Leo F. age 87 died Friday, December 11, 2009 at St. John Hospital in Detroit. Leo was born May 31, 1922 in Belgium, the son of Julien and Marie Lamote. On November 24, 1951 he married Agnes Rathe in Belgium and soon immigrated to the Detroit area. Mr. Lamote was the retired co-owner of R&L Waterproofing. He was a hard worker, often working long hours and six days a week. He was a generous man and was proud to have been able to send his four children to college. His grandchildren were a delight in his life. He played euchre and feather bowling. Leo was a member of the Cadieux Cafe Bowling Club, the Belgian-American Century Club, the Belgian Businessman's Club and Retirees and Post #58 Veterans of Foreign War in Harper Woods. Leo is survived by his wife of 58 years, Agnes; his children, Jerry (Sue) Lamote of Virginia, Christine Bates (Mike) of St. Clair Shores, Julie Geyman (Paul) of Warren and Monica Gardner (Andy) of Virginia; and grandchildren David, Kimberly, Michelle, Thomas, Jillian, James, Katie, April, Benjamin and the late Nicholas. He is also survived by a sister Anna DeSeranno and brother Jerome Lamote, both in Belgium. Visitation will be held on Sunday from 2:00-9:00 pm at the A. H. Peters Funeral Home, 20705 Mack Avenue at Vernier Road, Grosse Pointe Woods. The rosary will be recited at 7:00 pm Sunday. On Monday, Leo will lie instate at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, 21620 Greater Mack at Overlake, St. Clair Shores from 9:30 a.m. until time of mass at 10:00 a.m. Monsignor G. Michael Bugarin will officiate. Interment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery in Clinton Township.
