

Lilly Alice DeVore December 19, 1924 - January 23, 2018 Lilly (Lillian) Alice DeVore passed away in West Bloomfield on January 23, 2018 at the age of 93. Lillian was born on December 19, 1924 in Detroit, MI. Lillian is survived by her three children: Robert (Carol) DeVore of Brandon Township, MI; Jane (the late Thomas) Hicks of Millersburg, MI; and Judith (Christian) Hansen of Waterford, MI; nine grandchildren: Jennifer DeVore; Laura (Jeffery) DeVore Tessmer; Thomas (Allison) DeVore; Kathryn Cavanary; Sean, Kevin and Kelly Hicks; Adrienne Pritchard; and Marissa Hansen; and eight great-grandchildren: Travis Cavanary; Austin Bristow, Briana, Tehya and Evan Wronski, Kaitlyn and Joshua Tessmer; and Nathan DeVore; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Lillian was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas DeVore; parents, Albert and Elise (Huber) Appenzeller; sister, Julia; brother, Werner and sister-in-law, Alice. Lillian treasured her family. She was a kind and loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend, and will be greatly missed by those who knew her. Lillian was the youngest of twin girls. At 15 months old, she and her sister, Julia, contracted scarlet fever, and unfortunately, her sister did not survive. When Lillian was 11 years old, her father, Albert, passed away. After graduating from Detroit Southeastern High School in June, 1942, she worked as an executive secretary at Federal Mogul Corporation and later at Pan Handle Eastern Pipeline Company in the Guardian Building, Detroit. In 1949, she met Thomas DeVore, a captain in the United States Air Force, and they later married. In 1950, her mother, Elise, passed away. Lillian and Thomas had three children: Robert, Jane and Judith. In 1960, the family moved to Warren. After Thomas passed away in 1997, Lillian moved to Waterford, then to Sunrise Senior Living of West Bloomfield. In 2008, Lillian received care at West Bloomfield Beaumont Health & Rehab Center, where she resided until her passing. Lillian was of the Jehovahs Witness faith throughout her adult life. A private memorial and interment will take place at White Chapel Memorial Cemetery, located at 621 W Long Lake Rd, Troy, MI 48098.
