Lisa Dianne Fleszar 1962-2016 It has pleased the Lord of life to summon out of this vale of tears and unto Himself in heaven the soul of our dear sister in Christ, Lisa Dianne Fleszar, who was born on the 8th of February in the year of our Lord 1962 in Detroit, MI, the daughter of Armand C. Martin and his wife, Barbara J. ne'e Stamoran Martin. She was received into God's Kingdom of Grace through the Sacrament of Holy Baptism as an infant at St. Monica Church in Detroit, MI, Rev. Robert Mulcahy officiating. Lisa grew up in Westland, MI and attended Cooper Elementary School. At age 6, she moved with her family to Lima, OH, worshiped at Shawnee Methodist Church and confirmed her baptismal faith on May 1, 1974, Pastor Larry Hard officiating. Her confirmation verse was Romans 8:28, "In all things God works for the good of those who love Him who have been called according to His purpose." At the age of 14, Lisa returned to Michigan, moving with her family to Sterling Heights and attending Warren High School. In her last two years of high school, Lisa worked in a vocational cooperative program as a secretary in accounts payable and receivable. Following graduation from high school, she worked in sales at Southern Urethane and at Martin Fluid Power Companies for a total of ten years. She was joined in Holy Marriage with James Fleszar on August 11, 1984 at Faith Lutheran Church in Troy, MI, Pastor Warren Arndt officiating. The couple made their home in Sterling Heights and their marriage was blessed with the gift of three children: Christie, Marty and Holly. The family eventually moved to their home in Grosse Pointe Park, MI. Whether at Faith Lutheran, Troy, Risen Christ, Plymouth, or here at Christ the King, Lisa was always faithful in worshiping her Savior and in receiving the Sacrament of the Altar with her fellow believers. She was a tireless servant of Jesus, teaching Sunday School, Vacation Bible School, attending Bible Study, assisting her pastors and serving God's people in any helpful way that she could. Here at Christ the King, Lisa used her gifts to assist the Women's Guild in their projects, and in encouraging her friends and fellow believers by sending cards and personal letters as part of our Shepherd's Program. Lisa loved boating and skiing and raising her children in the Lord. She particularly loved every year of watching and experiencing life with them. At the end of July, 2016, Lisa began to experience difficulty in speaking and after hospitalization, was diagnosed with irreversible, stage four brain cancer. Lisa met this new challenge with incredible strength and faith in her Lord and Savior, and ever remained a stellar witness to God's love and care for us all in Jesus Christ. In her later months, she continued to worship and attend Bible Study, and to remember others with cards and letters of encouragement in Christ. She also enjoyed her days traveling and spending time with her family accomplishing things she desired to do as God yet gave her strength. Her condition began to decline on Monday, October 10th with the onset of stroke-like symptoms. She entered hospice care on Saturday, October 22nd, where she was lovingly cared for by her family members and her hospice caregivers. She died in the Lord on November 1, 2016, at the age of 54 years, 8 months, and 24 days. Celebrating her soul's victorious home-going into the Lord's Presence with the hope of the resurrection are her husband, Jim of Grosse Pointe Park, MI her son, Marty (Noelle) Fleszar of Sterling Heights, MI and her daughter, Holly of Grosse Pointe Park. She is also lovingly remembered by her father, Armand Martin of Sterling Heights, her brothers, Frank (Tari) Martin of St. Clair Shores, MI, the Rev. Dr. David (Elisabeth) Martin of Surprise, AZ, and her sister, Laura Martin of Sterling Heights, MI. She is also remembered by one aunt, Arline of South Carolina, as well as by nieces and nephews, countless friends and fellow believers. Lisa was predeceased by her daughter, Christie, who died two weeks short of her 9th birthday, and her mother, Barbara. Lisa's mortal remains were interred at Cadillac Memorial Gardens East in Clinton Township, MI, where they will await the glorious resurrection of all flesh at the Second Coming of our Lord Jesus Christ in glory. For Lisa's life, for all the blessings that God gave us through her, and particularly for her baptismal faith in Jesus which has availed for her as Life Everlasting, we give God thanks today and declare: "To God be immortal glory, for great things He has done!" Amen.
