

Louis William Vondette passed away peacefully at home with his family by his side on January 24, 2016 at the age of 81. He was born on June 1, 1934 in Detroit; son of Louis and Ella (nee Deutschel) Vondette. Mr. Vondette proudly served in the United States Navy during the Korean War. Shortly after his discharge, Louis went on a blind date with Leone Miller. Two years later on June 13, 1959, Louis married Leone at Charity Lutheran Church on Detroit's east side. They lived in Detroit for a few years and eventually moved to Eastpointe where they raised their family. Louis worked for Chrysler for over 40 years, retiring in 1996. A year after retirement Louis and Leone built their dream home in Gaylord. Mr. Vondette was very handy and could fix anything. He loved hockey; playing into his 40s. He loved hockey so much that every winter he would build a rink in the back yard for his children. Louis had a wonderful sense of humor and never had a bad word to say about anyone. He will truly be missed by everyone that knew him. He leaves behind his loving wife Leone. He was proud of his son Louis II (Linda), and daughter Lorraine. He adored his grandchildren Devin and Jacob Vitale, and Rose and Bill Zack. He leaves behind his great-grandchildren Rachel, Robin, and Roshelle; and his sister Carol Wunderlich. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 2:00 until 9:00 pm at A.H. Peters Funeral Home, 20705 Mack Ave., at Vernier Rd., Grosse Pointe Woods. Mr. Vondette's funeral will be held on Thursday at 10:00 am at the funeral. Interment will be held on Friday at 10:30 am at Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly, Michigan will military honors.
