

Marilyn Ruth Althouse passed away on Tuesday morning, December 15, 2015 at her home with her daughter Wendy at her side. She was born in Detroit on April 10, 1928 to Herman and Esther Skubick. Marilyn is survived by her loving daughter Wendy Althouse and by her dear brother Marvin Skubick. Her beloved husband Vorance passed away in November of 2008. Marilyn graduated from Eastern High School in Detroit. She married Vorance Althouse in 1954 after meeting him on a blind date arranged by mutual friends. They were married 53 years until the death of Vorance in 2008. Marilyn and Vorance enjoyed traveling and did so throughout the United States and overseas. Marilyn liked to cook for her family, especially during the holidays. She also did needlepoint. Marilyn enjoyed listening to Reverend J. Vernon McGee's program Through the Bible on Christian Radio. While she and Vorance lived in California from 1961-1965 she had the opportunity to meet him. While there she was a member of the choir, a youth group leader and taught Sunday school at the church they attended. Marilyn and Vorance were longtime members of Highland Park Baptist Church in Southfield, Michigan. They could be found assisting at the church's Welcome Center greeting parishioners and visitors. Visitation for Marilyn will take place Friday December 18, 2015 beginning at 11 o'clock until the service at 12 noon at Highland Park Baptist Church, 28600 Lahser Road, Southfield, MI 48034 Memorial contributions are appreciated to the Billy Graham Evangelical Association, 1 Billy Graham Parkway, Charlotte, NC 28201
