Marion was born in Toronto, Canada and became an United States citizen in February of 1954. Marion is survived by her daughter Sandy Coleman (Dan Coleman), her grandchildren Jim Coleman (Kim Laughton-Coleman) and John Coleman, her great grandchildren Myles Coleman, Declan Coleman and many generations of cousins. Marion was preceded in death by her son John Chrisner.
Marion was a woman of extraordinary resilience, having endured life’s hardships with strength and an unwavering enthusiasm for life. She constantly urged family, friends, students and casual acquaintances to take chances, try something new or follow their heart.
Marion was a Music and Drama teacher at the Grosse Pointe Academy for 47 years. She bonded many friendships with colleagues and students which she cherished until her last breath. Marion enjoyed monthly lunches with the ladies, going to the symphony and a good action movie. Over the years, she did hundreds of needlepoint pieces and recently took up knitting scarves for people in need. She was an avid reader of mystery books and an exceptional pianist. In the last 4 years she loved to have her great grandchildren sit on her lap for a story or a lesson on the piano.
Marion’s compassion, laughter and loving nature will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
A visitation for Marion will be held Friday, July 25th at 11:00am followed by a Memorial service at 12:00pm at A.H. Peters Funeral Home, 20705 Mack Ave, Grosse Pointe Woods, Mi. 48236. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to The Kinder Connect Literacy program at the Macomb Intermediate School Distract.
