Mary Louise Edwards

Grosse Pointe Farms resident Mary Louise Edwards, 86, passed away peacefully Tuesday, Nov. 21, 2017. Born Aug. 23, 1931, in Detroit, she was the daughter of John McWilliams and Grace Rogers McWilliams. Mary Lou married Dwight Wallace Edwards in 1953, and together they raised four daughters. Mary Lou was a devoted mother. When the girls were young, she enjoyed volunteering at their school as a room mother, a Girl Scouts leader and at Goodwill Industries. Mary Lou also was an active member of Theatre Arts, avid reader and enjoyed playing bridge. In later years, Mary Lou loved traveling the world, visiting many countries including the Soviet Union, China, Australia, Thailand, New Zealand, Hong Kong and several others in Africa and Europe. Mary Lou is survived by her beloved husband, Dwight; dear daughters and their families, Katherine Edwards; Susan and Robert Earl and son, Alex Harbart; Nancy and Mark Hauck and children, Byron (Alyssa Torby), Carlin (fianc Max Feinstat), Taylor (fianc William Leonard), Dana Azzoug (Abde) and Archibald; Karen and David Sutherland and daughter, Hollin; and great-grandson, Mahrez Azzoug. Family and friends will gather 11:30 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 30, at St. Paul on the Lake Catholic Church, 157 Lakeshore, Grosse Pointe Farms, followed by a funeral mass at noon.
