Mary F. Leech

Mary F. Leech, age 71, died peacefully at St. John Hospital and Medical Center in Detroit on July 24, 2013. She was born in Sault Saint Marie, Michigan on March 29, 1942, the daughter of Frank and Elizabeth Firnschild. She graduated from Grosse Pointe High School in 1960 and continued her education with a Bachelor's Degree from Central Michigan University and Master's Degrees from the University of Michigan and Wayne State University. Mary was a school teacher and taught English at the Van Dyke Public Schools and later at Macomb Community College. Mary was an avid reader and enjoyed her grandchildren and travel. Mrs. Leech was a member of St. Michael's Episcopal Church, the Northeast Guidance Center, AAUW, Grosse Pointe Woman's Club, and Women's Connection. Mary is survived by her two children, Scott (Amy) Leech and Dee Firnschild; two grandchildren, Vivian and Keira. She was predeceased by her husband Robert and brother, George Firnschild. Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at the A. H. Peters Funeral Home, 20705 Mack Avenue at Vernier Road in Grosse Pointe Woods. A memorial service will be held at 11 o'clock Wednesday morning at St. Michael's Episcopal Church, 20475 Sunningdale Park Drive, Grosse Pointe Woods. Rev. Marianna Gronek will officiate.
