

Michael J. Carpenter Sr. of St. Clair Shores, died Thursday, February 25, 2016 in Beaumont Hospital in Grosse Pointe. He was born October 24, 1938 in Detroit. Mike is described as a loving, generous and hardworking man. He worked for 30 years as an electrical assembler at WEMCO, first in St. Clair Shores and later in Shelby Township. He was a proud veteran of the United States Air Force where he was a military police officer and retired honorably after 21 years of service. During his time in the military he also served as a recruitment officer. Michael is survived by his beloved wife Karen; his children Madeline (Richard) Hilleman, Michelle (Robert) Dale, Karrie Carpenter (Erich McElroy), and Michael J. Carpenter Jr.; his grandchildren Christopher, Rachel, Zackary, Mark, Cassidy, Flora and one on the way; siblings Frances Bojakowski, Marjory Foran, Patrick, James, Eileen, Suzanne, Gerald, Daniel, Edward and Anne Carpenter; also many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents James and Mary Catherine Carpenter; and siblings Mary, twins William and James, Grace, William and Timmy. Visitation Monday 2-9 pm with White Clover service 6:30 pm. at the A. H. Peters Funeral Home, 20705 Mack Avenue at Vernier Road, Grosse Pointe Woods. Funeral service Tuesday 12 noon at the funeral home. Interment Great Lakes National Cemetery, 4200 Belford Road, Holly, MI.
