Michael James McCabe

Michael "Mike" James McCabe passed away on December 14, 2016 at the age of 81 after a courageous battle with cancer. The son of Earl and Marie (DeBeul) McCabe was born on August 17, 1935 in Wyandotte, MI. As a young man, he proudly served in the US Army. Mike had a long and successful career with Detroit Edison, retiring in 1992 after 42 years of service. He was a man of strong faith, and a devout Catholic his entire life. Mike will be fondly remembered for his devotion to family and friends, and his loving spirit. He was thoughtful and generous, always putting other's needs ahead of his own. Mike loved to laugh, and had an engaging sense of humor. He avidly enjoyed coaching baseball, fishing, playing golf, watching western and war movies, listening to music, spending time with his cat buddies, River and Miggy, and feeding animals in his back yard. Mike was a devoted husband of 44 years to the late Ruth Ann (Kilander). Loving father of Kelly (Ken) Specht, Kevin, and Michael (Katherine). Dearest brother of Kathleen Graziadei, Patrick (Sandra), and the late Eileen Tear, Marie Delaney, and John (Patricia). Mike was the proud grandfather of seven grandchildren; Kara, Kyle, Lauren, Matthew, Alyssa, Miranda, and Olivia; and one great-grandchild Abel. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, January 14 at 10:00 am at St. Hubert Catholic Church, 38775 Prentis, Harrison Twp. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1942.
