Nadia Alexy Hardy was born August 19, 1923 in Herminie, Pennsylvania to George and Mary Alexy. She moved many places throughout her life, spending many years in Logan, West Virginia where she met the love of her life, Charles at Franklin's, the small town's soda fountain where she worked. It was love at first sight. While her future husband was a waist gunner in the Second World War, Nadia was doing her part state side as a Rosie the Riveter, making speed rings for the fighter planes. After his years of patriotic service concluded, they married and settled in Michigan to raise their family. Nadia was with her surviving children, Chris and Nancy when she peacefully entered into the gates of Heaven from her home in Warren, Michigan on January 25, 2018, at the age of 94. Nadia's father was a Russian Orthodox priest, which was where her faith in the Lord was initially established. She taught Sunday School and was a member of the Altar Guild for many years. Her deep love for her Lord and Savior as well her precious family were what mattered most to her. Her life verse was Proverbs 3:5-6. She was a voracious reader. The Bible being her favorite book to read. She would often be found immersed in books that reinforced her abiding love of Jesus. A.W. Tozer being her favorite author. She also liked to indulge in Christian historical novels that weaved lessons of faith and endurance within the backdrop of the Old West. Nadia had a keen eye for design, and often said she would have become an interior decorator had she not chosen to devote her life to raising her children. Her home was always beautifully decorated at the ready for entertaining friends and family. She also held a special appreciation for antiques. She loved being a part of a card club that met regularly. The comradery shared with her friends as they played pinochle always brought her joy. Nadia is predeceased by her dear parents, cherished husband Charles, beloved daughter Marian and siblings Paul Alexy and Jean Zeile. She is survived by her children Christopher (Julia) Hardy and Nancy Hardy, grandchildren Benjamin (Angie), Nathanael, Elizabeth (Michael) and Rachel (Mike), great grandchildren Silas, Asa, Elinor, and Aurora, and sister Irene Montague.
