Nancy’s family was her everything. She was Beloved Wife of the late Wesley. Loving Mother of Catherine (David) Yunker, John (Shevawn) Thull, Timothy (Lynda) Thull, Eileen (the late Jeffery) Wright, and Patricia Thull. Dear Grandmother of Anne (Matt) Mastay, Erin (James) Baker, Patrick (Holly) Thull, Caitlin (Paul) Skerske, Tegan Thull, Brendan Thull, Rachel (Andrew) Mastay, Tyler Thull, Madelyne Wright, Wesley Wright, and Chelsea (Patrick) Pollet. Dear Great Grandmother of Mackenzie, Ashlynn, Alexandra, and Freya, along with another little one expected in April.
Born to John and Eileen Nagel in 1928, Nancy grew up in a tight-knit loving family in Detroit with her sisters Lyla and Mary. Even as a child, Nancy always knew she wanted to be a nurse. She practiced nursing at Providence Hospital and was deeply involved with the Sarah Fisher home for orphans in Detroit, often bringing children home for visits on the weekends.
In 1956, Nancy married her beloved Wesley Thull—whom she had known since grade school—and they started their own large, loving family. Though no longer employed as a nurse, Nancy went on to spend her entire adult life caring for others. She was known as “Nurse Nancy†to the whole neighborhood, stitching up scalps, bracing broken fingers, tending to scrapes, offering tender hugs and comfort along with Bactine and Band-Aids. When a family member fell seriously ill, they moved into her dining room; when a child’s friend needed a place to live, they moved into her “extra†bedroom; when little ones needed tending, they found themselves in her loving care. All was given freely, without hesitation, from a heart that found its highest calling in devotion to God and service to others.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, January 3, at 2:00PM at the A.H. Peters Funeral Home, 32000 Schoenherr, at Masonic, in Warren. Instate will be the following day at 10:30AM until time of service at 11:00AM at St. Martin de Porres Catholic Church.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks for memorial contributions to Angela Hospice (14100 Newburgh Rd, Livonia, MI 48154). The services, support, and compassionate care of this nonprofit organization had a tremendous impact on the quality of Nancy’s life during her final years.
