

Norman A. Yurkie, age 79, died suddenly on October 13, 2017 at Henry Ford Macomb Hospital in Clinton Township. He was born on May 7, 1938 at Providence Hospital in Detroit, the son of Anthony and Catherine Yurkie. Norm was a seven year survivor of esophageal cancer and was an avid golfer until his illness forced him to quit. He was a Little League manager for seven years, a girls softball coach for six years, served as a member of the Chippewa Valley School Board and the Clinton Township Planning Commission. Mr. Yurkie retired from General Motors after having worked 30 years at the GM Truck and Bus plant and then worked for 10 years with TK Lowery Leather. He was a co-owner of the Salvatore Scallopini Restaurant in Birmingham for 20 years. He will be truly missed by the family and friends of 50+ years. Norm was the beloved husband of Joan (Schmidt) for 54 years; the loving father of Matt and his wife Lisa (Mannone) and Kristin Yurkie and her husband Marco Bonneville. Dear brother of Carol Schmidt (the late Bernie). Brother-in-law of Kenny & Nancy Schmidt, Jerry & Marilyn Schmidt, Marilyn & Mike Rossi and the late Dick Schmidt. Also many cherished nieces, nephews and cousins. The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 3:00 to 9:00 PM at the A. H. Peters Funeral Home, 32000 Schoenherr Road at Masonic in Warren. The Holy Rosary will be recited at 7:00 oclock Tuesday evening. His body will lie instate at St. Paul of Tarsus Catholic Church, 41300 Romeo Plank, Clinton Township from 9:00 AM Wednesday until mass begins at 9:30 AM. Interment Resurrection Cemetery in Clinton Township. The family has requested memorials donations be made to either St. Jude Childrens Research Hospital, P. O.
