

Patrick Francis Carron passed away peacefully at home on September 10, 2016, in Grosse Pointe Woods. He was 93 years old. Born March 11, 1923, Patrick was raised on a farm in the French speaking town of Pain Court, Ontario. He was the son of Adelard and Annie Caron. Patrick was an accomplished violinist and performed with the Ottawa Symphony, while attending the University of Ottawa. He excelled as a baseball catcher and was recruited to play professional baseball for the Detroit Tigers. He declined the Tiger's offer in order to continue with his formal education. After getting his BA from University of Western Ontario, he attended and graduated from the University of Detroit School of Law. He became a member of the State Bar of Michigan in 1956. Patrick practiced law in the City of Detroit with his brother Paul for many years. He was admitted to practice before the U.S. Supreme Court and was an Appellate Magistrate for the Workman's Compensation Board. He remained active in his profession until his mid-80s. Patrick will be remembered as a true gentleman, friend to everyone, man of deep faith and devoted husband and father. He was very involved with his children's activities and served as a board member of the Grosse Pointe Hockey Association for many years. He was a very kind man and opened his home and heart to the friends of all his children, some of whom fondly called him "Mr. C". He served on the Parish Counsel for Our Lady Star of the Sea and served the parish school, as well. He and Genevieve later resided in St. Clair. Michigan for a number of years, where they enjoyed golfing together, as members of the St. Clair Golf Club. Patrick was also a member of the Grosse Pointe Men's Club. Patrick received many honors and recognitions during his career. He was a Past President of the Alliance Francaise de Grosse Pointe and he was honored, by the Government of France, with the distinction of Chevalier (knight) by the Ordre des Palmes Academiquies. Additionally, he was active with the Knights of Columbus. Patrick is survived by his wife, Genevieve and children, Ronald (Pam), Cynthia (Ken) Koch, Deborah (Greg) Nelson, Brian (Jane), David (Mary), Richard (Macaire), Patrick (Sarah), Anita (Paul) Schmitter, and Michael (Gretchen). Patrick and Genevieve have 24 grandchildren and one great-grandson, all of whom they greatly love and cherish. He is also survived by his sister, Sr. Vivienne Caron, O.S.U. and sister-in-law, Sharon Carron, wife of the late James Carron. Patrick was pre-deceased by his siblings and their spouses: Sr. Marie Anne Caron, I. B.V.M.; Mae Caron, RN; Paul Carron; Bernadette Connolly (James); and James Carron. Family will receive friends and visitors on Tuesday at 2:00-9:00 p.m. at A. H. Peters Funeral Home at 20705 Mack Ave, Grosse Pointe Woods. A Rosary will be recited at 7pm. There will be a viewing on Wednesday at 9:30 a.m. at Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church at 467 Fairford, Grosse Pointe Woods, until time of service at 10:00 a.m. Memorial contributions, in lieu of flowers, can be made to the Fr. Solanis Guild.
