

Paul Aesop Attar was born in Detroit on July 30, 1936 to Selim and Marie Attar and had two siblings, Victor Attar and Olga Dadourian (both deceased). He graduated from Cass Tech High School, then taught swimming survival skills and competed in diving with the Navy. After his honorable discharge, Paul earned All-American honors for diving at Wayne State University before being recruited by the University of Michigan. There, he earned his Bachelor's Degree in Physical Education and his letter in Varsity Diving and met his soulmate, Carol Ann Coon. After graduation, Paul traveled with the Aqua Spectacular water show before marrying Carol in 1964.
His career as a professional fundraiser included employment by many nonprofit organizations before establishing his own consulting company, Funding Resources. Paul was a wonderful creative writer and story-teller. He loved to travel, spend time with family, and share his considerable wisdom. He was a devoted husband, supportive father, and involved grandfather who was beloved for his wit, charm, and 1000-watt smile. Paul is survived by his wife of 60 years, three children, Sharon Attar, Annie Attar MacAskill and Paul Selim Attar (Suzanne), and 5 grandchildren, Elizabeth Disque (Robert) Rick Maycroft-Fletcher (Joseph), Danny MacAskill, Duncan MacAskill, and Michael Attar. He passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family.
