February 23, 1942 – August 7, 2025
Paul Duane Jones Reside, age 83, passed away peacefully on August 7, 2025 in Warren, MI. “Butchie” is the beloved son of Connie (Majtyka) and step-father Wayne Reside of Ecorse, MI and father, Arthur Jones of Arizona and brother of Arlene (Felske).
Paul left behind his loving wife, Lynda (Klaus Lafferty). They shared 30 years of marriage and lived in Warren, MI. They enjoyed tending to their gardens, cheering on their favorite sports teams and collecting antiques. Their most important treasures, however, were the times they spent visiting with many friends, family and especially their children, grandchildren & great-grandchildren.
He was DAD to Kevin (Debbie Reside), Brian (Cheryl Laffery Reside), Tricia (Troy Adamen), Scott (Jenn Lafferty-Reside) and step-father to Erin (William Madison) & Matthew; Grandfather to Justine (Justin Hanrahan), Megan, Katie, Genevieve, Samuel, Calysta, Barrett, Blake, Alyssabeth, Lena, Emily(Tomas Hackett), Alicia (Alex Trout), Zachary (Mackenzie Gorkiewicz), Autumn, Scott Jr., Chase, Aidan, Colin, Ethan, Matthew and Great-Grandfather to Everett, Wyatt, Jadyn, Zoey, Weston, Abigail, Thomas, Sophie, Alexander, Vincen, Jonah, Mateo, Brian Robert, Tommy Jr., Emma, Caden, Logan, Aurelias and Everett. He was also Uncle, Cousin and Friend to many, all of whom he loved very much. All who will cherish the fun times shared with him or remember the legacy he left behind.
His children do not have to question whether their father loved them because he showed this through his actions and involvement in their lives throughout the years. Paul was a committed scout leader of Pack 753 of the Boy Scouts of America for many years and served in various roles with the Cherry Hill Swim Club, Varsity Teams and PTO. When the band needed a crack whip for their big Christmas Concert, he was Johnny on the Spot fabricating something that would work. If there was something he could do for others, he never hesitated.
Paul worked with the Ford Motor Company for over 35 years starting out as a Tool & Die Apprentice and ending his career as a Cost Estimator. He took great pride in his work and one of his last projects was working in Europe with the Transit Van project before his retirement. He loved his Detroit Red Wings, Tigers & Lions. He was an avid fisherman, enjoyed hunting and was a serious genealogist, completing many branches of his family tree. He enjoyed searching for pieces to add to his collections of die-cast cars, coins and many other items that brought him joy. He was a lover of nature and enjoyed feeding the birds and squirrels in his yard.
Most importantly, Paul was a man of faith. He was a long-time member of St. Francis Xavier Parish in Ecorse, MI where he served as an Usher and volunteer in various roles throughout the years. He read through the Bible many times and often turned to it for guidance. He left this world in peace knowing he would be with his Lord and that we would all meet again someday.
He will lie in state at 10:30am at St. Ronald Church (17701 Fifteen Mile Rd., Clinton Twp, MI 48035) followed by Mass at 11:00am. There will be a procession to Resurrection Cemetery (18201 Clinton River Rd., Clinton Twp., MI 48038) and graveside blessing. A luncheon to remember and celebrate Paul’s life will be held at Fern Hill Golf Course (enter thru Floodz Bar & Grill – in the back, 17600 Clinton River Rd., Clinton Twp, MI 48038).
