Paul is survived by his beloved wife, Ann LaBara (nee Miller) ; his caring children, Samuel LaBara (Kathleen), Susanne LaBara (Christopher Czochara) and Michael LaBara (Jennifer); his loving grandchildren, Victoria LaBara, Daisy Czochara, Jackson Czochara, Paul LaBara and Brynley LaBara; and precious great grandchild, Austin Frybarger.
Paul had many loves in his life.
He loved his cars, especially those Cadillacs and Corvettes. He loved being on the water, captaining either his pontoon around the coves of Lake Sherwood or his 24-foot Sundancer through the canals of Lake St. Clair.
Paul also loved his work, making a name for himself in the computer industry, back in the days when one machine took up an entire room and its data was programmed by punch card and saved on magnetic tape.
Success in his work would take Paul and his family on adventures that crisscrossed the country. Michigan, Texas, or Colorado – no matter where they landed, no matter where they lived, Paul showed his children how a little hard work mixed with a whole lot of love always made their new house something more.
It made them a home.
Paul loved his job, the cars, and the boats, no doubt; but what Paul loved most were his wife, children, and grandchildren.
The vacations in Galveston, Myrtle Beach, Niagara Falls, and Miami; the campouts in Sea Rim State Park; the trips to Caseville and Leamington; all those moments swimming in the backyard pool, leading the local scout troop, or coaching soccer and little league – Paul, the dedicated husband, father, and grandfather, made sure the time he had to spend was always spent with family.
Paul LaBara is beloved by those of us fortunate enough to have known him, those blessed enough to have been loved by him. We celebrate his life and are honored to call him husband, father, brother, and friend.
Godspeed, Paul. Rest well. You live within us, forever and always.
