

Preston Lee Williams was born on July 2, 1954 to the union of George and Agnes Williams. He was born and raised in Detroit MI. He attended Leland Junior High School and Southeastern High School. As a kid he enjoyed working in the yard with his father and brother “Mickey”, shooting marbles, playing football in the street, playing basketball in the backyard, and going to the YMCA for various activities. In his young adult years, he started a club with his friend Fletcher called Alpha Phi Delta where they enjoyed giving parties in the basement of St. Martins. He also enjoyed playing baseball and softball where he was known on the baseball field as “The Dog”. In 1984 he married Toni Benson and to this former union he had 2 children. Over the years he worked for Detroit Public Schools, Chrysler, and The City of Detroit. In 2010 he retired as a foreman with Detroit Public Works. In his retirement Preston enjoyed going to the gun range, watching sports, and listening to R&B and jazz music.
Preceding him in death are his parents George and Agnes Williams, two brothers Robert January and Michael January, a sister Gloria Ann, and a grandson Remi Williams. He leaves to cherish his memory his children Remy Williams and Preston Williams II (Makayla), two grandchildren Saige Williams and Mailikka Williams, his sisters Joyce January and Beatrice Segur, his brother George Williams, his aunt Catherine Flake, and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
A Memorial Gathering will take place for Preston on Saturday, August 17, 2024, from 1PM-5PM at A.H. Peters Funeral Home, 20705 Mack Ave. Grosse Pointe Woods, MI 48236.
