Beloved son of Virginia and the late Frank Haraszkiewicz. Dear brother of John (Debra), Douglas, and Paula (Kurt) Lingerfelt. Uncle to Vanessa (Dr. Joshua Yankelove), John, Brian, Douglas Haraszkiewicz and Jacob, Kate, Rachel Lingerfelt. Richard was born in Detroit Michigan. He was raised in Eastpointe, where he remained throughout his life. Richard obtained a Bachelors of Arts with a major in History from Wayne State University. He was an avid reader; his love of books and stories of history, adventure and lost treasures led to a life of "Treasure Hunting" at estate sales, auctions and antique shops. Over time, Richard was considered a subject matter expert in several fields. His advice and knowledge was sought by his family, friends, and many of his peers. Although he never married, Richard was a family man. He was very close and involved in the lives of his nieces and nephews. He loved taking them fishing, hunting and teaching them about history and treasure hunting. Richard was an extraordinary storyteller with a vivid imagination, which he used to entertain and scare his nieces and nephews. Richard will be dearly missed by family and friends and forever in our hearts and minds. Visitation will be held on Friday from 3:00 pm until 9:00 pm at A.H. Peters Funeral Home, 20705 Mack Ave., at Vernier Rd., Grosse Pointe Woods. He will lie instate on Saturday from 10:30 am until the time of the Mass at 11:00 am at St. Veronica Catholic Church, 21551 Universal Drive, Eastpointe.
