Wow Dad- Your funeral was 1 week ago today and I still can't believe you're gone. You are so loved and missed by me and your other 8 little ones, not to mention Mom who is being strong for all of us but knows she lost her best friend. You have been a wonderful provider to mom and us-we are truly blessed! I wish every family had the gift of a loving father the way we were. Thank You for everything and although things will NEVER be the same without you-we are all okay and even closer than ever Dad. I ask that you watch over me and the rest of us now- I know you already are! I love you so much and miss your voice every minute but carry you in my heart! ...Love you Dad, Ging-Her : )

There are many things to say about Dad, and it is hard to pick. Dad always was a solid foundation for me. He shared his love unconditionally with his family and people close to him. He had a witticism that was unique. He loved his grandchildren very much. He was a very good provider for his family. He will be missed and the world is a better place because he was here. So sorry to hear this news. I met Robert Emmett when i was in grade 10 ,around1953. My father was Francis Leo Gainer and we visited Edward gainer (dad's brother) at that time. I was very impressed by Emmett as I had no cousins in western Canada and I was so impressed with this warm and welcoming young man! There is nothing I can say to comfort the family for this loss except to tell you that you have been thinking of Robert Emmett today and I understand how sad this occasion must be for Emmett's family and friends. Well, dad you shone tonight! You looked absolutely handsome in your suit that we all know you only wear on special occasions, and even then, reluctantly! All of us (your) kids had a great representation of our families, children, and friends that came to honor you...you had so many people that wanted to see you that it was nearly impossible for us to talk to them all...bravo dad! Then, the military honor guard from the VFW put on a program that astounded everybody...from the very eloquent speaking from the chaplain, thanking you for your service to our country, to the 21-gun salute, and culminating with your comrades presenting mom with a Bible and the American Flag...it was very respectful,very touching, and the ritual finally did give you the credit you deserve for being part of the Greatest Generation! None of us doubts that in the least. Our family's long and winding road just took a huge turn, but we are all still here loving you more than ever. Thanks Dad!
