GRIFFIN, Robert J. M.D. October 4, 2009 Age 86 Husband of the late Robin Rawlins, former husband of Donna Griffin and former husband of the late Eda L. Griffin. Dear father of George (Nyra Hill), Larry (Cathy) and Steven (Sandy). Loving grandfather of Emmy, Kyle, David, Robby, Tom, Eric and Steve. Memorial Service 11 AM Saturday October 31, 2009 at Grosse Pointe Unitarian Church 17150 Maumee, Grosse Pointe 48230. Memorial contributions may be made to the church or Beaumont Hospital of Grosse Pointe Foundation 468 Cadieux, Grosse Pointe, MI 48230. Arrangements by A. H. Peters Funeral Home of Grosse Pointe Woods. At the request of Dr. Griffin no visitation will take place. Dr. Griffin graduated Boston University Medical School in 1947 after interrupting his studies to proudly serve in the U. S. Army as a Military Policeman during WWII. Dr. Griffin was former chief of staff at St. John Hospital and also at the former Bon Secours Hospital (now Beaumont Hospital of Grosse Pointe). He started the intensive care unit at this hospital and ironically passed away in this very unit 42 years later. He was a cardiologist in private practice for over forty years, retiring in 1993. He was past president of the Grosse Pointe Woods and Shores Little League(1961-1962). Dr. Griffin was a member of the Grosse Pointe Hunt Club and a former member of Lochmoor Country Club. He was very active at the Grosse Pointe Unitarian Church and served as an usher for many years. Doctor Griffin traveled the world and found enjoyment reading about history and current events. His doted on his beloved cats, as they were truly members of his family.
