
Robert W. Olson passed away April 1, 2010 at William Beaumont Hospital in Grosse Pointe at age 69. He was born on February 19, 1941; son of Warren and Janet (nee King) Olson. As a young man, Bob attended Shattuck St. Mary's Prep School in Faribault, Minnesota. He continued on to earn a Bachelors Degree in English at Bowdoin University in 1959. During the 1960s, Mr. Olson served his country faithfully in the United States Army and Army Reserves. On September 9, 1967 Bob married Marilyn Schwartz at Faith Lutheran Church in Detroit. Mr. Olson was the owner of the Schwartz Boring Co., Schwartz Precision Gear, and Conner Engineering. Bob was very active. He enjoyed skiing, playing tennis, golfing, and traveling. He was an active member and usher at St. James Lutheran Church in Grosse Pointe Farms. He belonged to the U of M Club of Greater Detroit, the Western Golf and Country Club, a member of the Society of Brother Beta of the Rampant Lion foundation Delta Kappa Epsilon. He enjoyed spending time with his family at the summer home in Canada. He leaves behind his wife of 42 years Marilyn. He was proud of his daughters Joan (Kim) Fisher, and Katherine Czerkis (Matthew). He adored his granddaughter Emerson Fisher. He will be missed by his brother Charles (Joan). A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday May 15th at 10:00 am at St James Lutheran Church 170 McMillan, Grosse Pointe Farms.
