

Ronald H. Atkinson passed away at the age of 87 in Warren, Michigan after an extended illness. Ronald was a veteran of the Marine Corps and served in the Korean War. While in the Marines, he achieved the rank of Corporal. Ronald worked as a firefighter for the City of Sterling Heights Michigan for 28 years. He retired with the rank of Lieutenant. Ronald earned an Associate’s degree in Fire Science from Macomb Community College in Clinton Township, Michigan and his EMT specialist level certification at Madonna University in Livonia, Michigan. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and an honorary member of the Paralyzed Veterans of America. Ronald enjoyed traveling and spending time with his beloved wife Patcy. He enjoyed the hobbies of amateur radio and reading. Ronald is survived by sons Dr. Kenneth Atkinson (Dr. Laura Praglin), Kevin Atkinson (Lorrie Bufford-Atkinson), Ronald Atkinson (Sara Atkinson), and granddaughter Kimberly Atkinson. A visitation for Ronald will be held Thursday, March 24, 2022 at 1:00 PM at AH Peters, 20705 Mack, Grosse Pointe Woods, MI 48236. A funeral service will occur Thursday, March 24, 2022 at 3:00 PM, 20705 Mack, Grosse Pointe Woods, MI 48236. A graveside service will occur Friday, March 25, 2022 at 11:00 AM at Great Lakes National Cemetery, 4200 Belford, Holly, MI 48442
