Roy was very active in the church, serving as a deacon, on the missions board and teaching Junior Church for 25 years. To most of the youth he was known as “Uncle Royâ€.
Roy loved helping his family in many ways, building closets, fireplace surrounds, dry walling ceilings, pulling out large bushes. Roy and Jane loved vacationing. They have been on cruises, drove to California several times, most every Labor Day they walked the Mackinaw Bridge. On Sunday, Dec 7th 2014 they were able to go to a ceremony at Pearl Harbor for the 73rd anniversary of the attack. They spent a week touring O’ahu. Roy and Jane love the water; sometimes they just go to a park and sit in the van and look. This past July found them at a cabin on Lake Huron for a week vacation. Roy loved his cat Toby, making puzzles, working with wood, being Santa on Christmas Eve and all family gatherings. In July 2020 Roy and Jane celebrated 68 years of marriage just 1 month before they were both hospitalized on Aug 20th and 21st. Roy was 93 at the time of his home going on September 14th.
