Sara L. Patrosso

Sara L. Patrosso, age 84, died peacefully at St. John Hospital and Medical Center on December 29, 2011 after a short illness. She was born on July 6, 1927 in Detroit, the daughter of John and Hattie Thorpe. She graduated from Southeastern High School in 1945 and attended the Detroit Commercial College. After she completed her education, Sara worked several years as an executive administrative assistant for the Maryland Casualty Insurance Company and also at General Motors. When her children were teenagers, she went back to work for several years and worked for Kelly Services. In 1953, Sara married Albert Patrosso at the Jefferson Avenue Baptist Church in Detroit. They lived in East Detroit and have been residents of Grosse Pointe Woods for the last 40 years. Mrs. Patrosso enjoyed bowling, bridge and socializing. She was an active volunteer at the Grosse Pointe Woods Presbyterian Church where she was a member for over 33 years. She served on the church's Worship Enrichment Committee and other women's groups. She also was an avid Detroit Tiger baseball fan. Sara is survived by her husband of 58 years, Albert; her two sons, Mark and Gary (Jeanne); and her two granddaughters, Aubry and Brittany. Visitation is scheduled from 2:00 to 9:00 p.m. on Monday, January 2, 2012 at the A. H. Peters Funeral Home, 20705 Mack Avenue at Vernier Road in Grosse Pointe Woods. Her body will lie instate at the Grosse Pointe Woods Presbyterian Church, 19950 Mack Avenue at Torrey Road in Grosse Pointe Woods from 10:30 a.m. Tuesday until the funeral service begins at 11 o'clock. Rev. James Rizer will officiate. Interment will be at the White Chapel Memorial Cemetery in Troy.
