Scott D. Shrake

Former Grosse Pointe Farms resident, Scott Shrake, 47, died December 28, 2013 in Clarkston, Michigan. Scott was born July 23, 1966, to David and Sharon Shrake. He graduated from Grosse Pointe South High School in 1984 and earned his Bachelors in Business from Western Michigan University in 1990, majoring in accounting. He was employed as an accountant/comptroller for several area businesses. Growing up, Scott played Grosse Pointe Little League and Babe Ruth baseball. He loved biking, reading, sailing and listening to his vast music collection. Scott is survived by his parents, David and Sharon; sister, Sandra Kopacko (James); brother, Michael Shrake (Laura); nephews, Luke and Nicklas Shrake and Calvin Kopacko; and his beloved dog, Sasha. He is also survived by several aunts and uncles and many cousins. Scott is best remembered for his generosity, devotion and loyalty. He will be missed by many. Visitation will be held at the A. H. Peters Funeral Home, 20705 Mack Avenue at Vernier Road in Grosse Pointe Woods on Saturday, January 25, 2014 from 12 noon to 7:00 p.m. A memorial service will begin at 7:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the The Detroit Zoological Society, 8450 W. 10 Mile Road, Royal Oak, MI 48067 or the Michigan Humane Society, c/o Development Department, 30300 Telegraph Road, Suite 220, Bingham Farms, MI 48025. Although it is a kind gesture, the family requests that food not be sent to the funeral home. Scott's cremated remains will be inurned at St. Paul on the Lake Catholic Church Columbarium.
