Susan G. Yager

Susan G. Yager, age 70, died peacefully on January 11, 2011 at St. John Hospital in Detroit following a long bout with cancer. She was born on November 9, 1940 in Detroit, Michigan, the daughter of Charles and Faye Weber. She graduated from St. David Catholic High School in Detroit in 1957. In her early years Sue held several clerical positions. In 1961 she married Jerry Yager at St. David Church. They were long time residents of Harper Woods and resided in St. Clair Shores since 1993. She had been an Avon Lady for many years. Sue was fond of bingo, the lottery and casinos. Jerry and Sue enjoyed traveling after they retired. She was a doting grandmother and loved to spoil her grandchildren. She was a Lioness at the Harper Woods Lions Club where Jerry was a long time member. Susan is survived by her husband of almost 50 years, Jerry; four daughters, Carolyn Welton (Steven), Maggie Betke (Tim), Cindy Amatayakul (Sam) and Gigi Zehnpfennig (Steven); five grandchildren, Kelly, Jessica, Lucas, Allen and Carley; her brother, Charles Weber and her two sisters, Carol Dimaggio and Kathy Fyn. The funeral will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday at the A. H. Peters Funeral Home, 20705 Mack Avenue at Vernier Road in Grosse Pointe Woods. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 3:00 - 9:00 pm. Memorial contributions may be made to the Susan G. Komen for the Cure would be appreciated.
