Thomas Fahrner

Former Grosse Pointe Woods resident Thomas J. Fahrner, 85, died Sunday, July 12, 2015, at HarborChase of Sterling Heights. He graduated from DeLaSalle High School and the Chrysler Institute of Engineering where he attended the apprentice Tool and Die Maker program. He worked his entire career for the Chrysler Corporation, retiring in 1995. Mr. Fahrner enjoyed fishing, dancing and sporting events. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and the usher's club at Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church. He also served several years as a member of the Grosse Pointe Woods City Council. Mr. Fahrner is survived by his daughters, Deborah Zablocki (Bill), Diane Matous (John) and Suzanne Joyce; nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren and one brother. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday, July 16, at Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church, 467 Fairford, Grosse Pointe Woods. Visitation begins at the church at 9:30 a.m. Donations may be made to Holy Cross Children's Services, 8759 Clinton-Macon Road, Clinton, MI 49236.
