My heartfelt condolences go out to Charlie, Lindy, and their daughters as well as to Bridget and Barbara. Charlie and I grew up together starting with preschool. We played Little League baseball together on the Pittsburgh Piratesâ€”quite appropriate considering Thomas Jansonâ€™s birthplace, as well as high school football and track at G.P. South. Mr. Janson, or â€œTJâ€ as we affectionately called him, was there every step of the way. TJ invited me to accompany them on a vacation to Arizona during our senior year in high school. TJ and I took in an Arizona State football game in a rare desert downpour and we took a tour of the college campus leading to my decision to attend Arizona State University. To this day, Arizona is now my home and this would have never happened without TJâ€™s consideration and guidance. TJ was very proud to have served in the military and all Americans should be thankful of the tremendous service he gave to defend the freedom we enjoy. I hope all who feel a tremendous sense of loss find comfort in knowing TJ is in a better place now and we will get to join him again in the future. God bless you TJ and thank you for raising my lifelong friendâ€”Charlie.

Like so many other veterans of the 70th Division, I've lost a comrade who always balanced his professionalism so that our mutual respect survived whatever challenges were confronting us. He was a steady hand who would cheerfully sacrifice his convenience and comfort to see it that the mission was accomplished. As with all old warriors, we will meet again "on the high ground." He will be missed.

Charlie, I am so sorry for your loss. My father passed away in March and it was an extremely difficult time for me. One thing that always made me feel better was to hear from my friends and know that I was not alone. I did not know your father but I do know you. You are a good person. Your parents did a good job raising you and I can not think of a better tribute to your father. Our legecy in life is our children and your parents have alot to be proud of when it comes to you. Always remember although you will no longer be able to enjoy his company he is in a better place, smiling down on you with great pride. God Bless to you and your family. Lorenzo

I served with Tom for several years in the 70th. He was an unflappable leader with an unusual amount of common sense. I enjoyed his company and appreciaated his wise counsel. And he had the greenest thumb of anyone I have ever known. I will miss him and look forward to seeing him again. My sympathies to his family and friends.

So sorry for your loss. I will try to make the funeral home but not sure at this point since it is so far. I remember Tom from long before he grew up-sometime back in the 1940s. We are only a year apart. He was always very shy and because of it a little hard to get to know, but none the less I thought he was a very nice person. I have heard how very sick he was.
