Tom Masserang was a great man and coach. I have many memories of him as I grew up with the BG football family. Our deepest sympathies for the Masserang family.

To the Masserang Family, I am so sorry to hear of the loss of Tom. As a kid going to my Uncle Joe and Aunt Chris's house on Lansdown. I remember seeing all of the Masserang's and Tom with a smile on his face all of the time. I will always remember him being happy and with a big smile on his face. RIP Tom you will be missed.

Totally shocked to hear of Tom's passing. Thankfully he was with his family at the end and he will be sorely missed and fondly remembered by these two fellow St Kate's 1967 graduates: Michael and Susan (VanGelderen) Thom.

My sincere condolences to Marianne and to my old BGHS coach for 4 years. Coach Tom helped shape me into the man I am today. I will always be greatful for his guidance not only on the football field but in life lessons. I was leaving a Catholic Central HS football game a couple of years ago and heard a couple of familiar voices. I turned around and there was Jack and Tom. I was impressed that after 35 years he rememberd who I was. He even invited me to stand on the sidelines the following week at DC. Thanks for everything coach. St. Peter just got a new teammate!

I would not be the same man I am today without the guidance and influence I received from Coach Tommy and the rest of the staff. I cannot express the extent of my gratitude for the kindness that I received from the entire Masserang family during the most influential years of my life. I have and will continue to carry on that legacy by sharing the same kindness and support to as many others as I can. My heart goes out to the entire family. The world has lost a great man.

Mary Lou and I are sorry to hear about Tom. He was younger enough that my memories of growing up together are vague. Certainly I remember him as an adult. He was one of the good guys. My heartfelt condolences to all of Tommy's family & friends. He was a year older than me and my childhood memories of him are laughter and good natured teasing, as an adult, a truly stand-up guy. Hopefully he is now in the arms of his loved ones who went before, and the rest of us can take comfort in the fact that Tommy was truly loved by many & we can celebrate his life...a life well lived.

Tom was one of those men who people can take for granted but who has a positive daily impact on those around him because of his caring and compassionate nature. My condolences to the family and friends of Coach Thomas Masserang. I was a student at Bishop Gallagher High School and I went to a lot of the football games. My thanks for his coaching of the football players. My thanks for his service in the Army.

Coach Tom Masserang was a great coach and a better person. My brother Romond Batten and I were very fortunate to be coached by Tom in our days at Bishop Gallagher as quarterbacks. He not only helped me grow as a player on the field but was a great mentor and helped me grow as a young man off the field. I was saddened by his passing and know that he made an impact on several young men's lives. He was a great builder of men and was respected by many. I will never forget the impact he had on my life. My deepest sympathy to the Masserang and Juif families. The impact that Tom has made on countless young men over the years is immeasurable. The gruff voice with the quick witted wise cracks have been fond memories of mine for 30 years now. Tom taught us all how to dig deep to get the best out of ourselves. His lessons and approach to both the game and to life will live on for many generations to come.

I will always be thankful for Coach Masserang's dedication to me as a player but also when I was a coach. There were many games while I was coaching at Holy Redeemer the Gallagher Staff were at our games giving encouragement. Spent many hours at clinics talking about football and life. Thank you Tom for all you did for me.

Coach Masserang was a very understanding man. I remember him as a role model that encouraged me positively as I was attempting to be a man.

Tom was my coach friend and a man I truly looked up too...I was also privileged to coach with him for several years at BG.I saw on his face and in his heart how all the wins and loss effected him...he truly cared and loved all the young men he coached...The memories I have of coaching with Tommy are priceless. Coach Thomas Masserang was one of the greatest influences in my life. I had the pleasure of playing for him and he was one of the finest coaches I've ever met, not because of x's and o's because he cared about you as a person. I am so sad right now for so many reasons. I wish I could say celebrate his home going but I can't the world had truly suffered a loss!

Coach Tom Masserang taught me many lessons on the hard packed soil of Sasser Field that have served me well in all my adult life. Most of all - never give up in the face of pain or adversity. He also taught me that coaching does not end with the season or graduation. He remained a mentor, coach and friend. I will always remember his gravel voice yelling encouragement from the sidelines, his dedication to coaching, desire to win, his toughness and friendship. Marianne, I know that words are inadequate at a time like this but I wanted you to know how very sorry I am for your loss. Tom was such a great guy...sincere, honest, funny. I will miss his ribbing and kidding. He was good natured and a good coach and friend. Would never let me touch the footballs for fear I would jinx their catchability. How funny...but not true. Tom, I will miss you.
