

Thomas Masserang passed away peacefully at home with his family by his side on November 30, 2013. He was born in Detroit on February 17, 1949 son of Arthur and Barbara (nee Granger) Masserang. Tom was a proud graduate of St. Catherine High School in 1967. He served proudly in the United States Army from 1969 until 1971 in Vietnam. He has worked at LaGrasso Brothers Produce for over 35 years. He was a charming man and loved to have fun. He was a long time Catholic League football coach with the majority of his time with the Bishop Gallagher football program. He coached and lived his life with integrity. His hard working nature and love for Michigan football will be missed. His biggest love of all was his family, as he was a true "family man". He leaves behind his best friend and wife of thirty-one years, Marianne. He loved and was proud of his son Jeff (Susan), and daughter Katie. He adored his grandson Thomas. He will be missed by his siblings, Jack (Jackie), Judy (Rich), Bill (the late Connie), Jim (Kathy), Sue (Bernie), George, Paul (Patti), and Barbara (Brian). He is survived by numerous nieces, nephews and extended family members. He was predeceased by his parents and brother Michael. Visitation will be held on Sunday from 5:00 pm until 9:00 pm and on Monday from 2:00 pm until 9:00 pm at A.H. Peters Funeral Home, 20705 Mack Ave., at Vernier Rd., Grosse Pointe Woods. Mr. Masserang will lie instate on Tuesday from 9:30 am until the time of the Mass of the Resurrection at 10:00 am at Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church, 20955 Bournemouth, Harper Woods. The service will conclude with military honors. In lieu of flowers, the Masserang family requests memorial contributions be made to the American Association for Cancer Research at www.aacr.org
