Thomas Peter Mellos

December 22, 1947 - January 24, 2023

Thomas Peter Mellos, beloved father and brother, passed away peacefully on January 24, 2023 at the age of 75, after a 6-month battle with Leukemia.

Tom will be missed dearly by his two children Christian (Bailey) and Carly (Marshall), as well as his sister Cathy Counts (the late Jeff), brother Steve (Toni), and several adoring cousins, nieces, and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Peter and Irene Mellos.

Born on December 22, 1947 in Detroit, Michigan, Tom graduated from Cody High School and The University of Michigan. He was raised in the Greek Orthodox Church and was very involved in the Greek community playing youth basketball, softball and traveling with the Sons of Pericles where he met some of his life-long close friends.

He spent many years as a member of the Grosse Pointe Yacht Club where he enjoyed watching his children grow up swimming and sailing. He took great joy in being a devoted father and never missed an opportunity to tell those around him how proud he was of Christian and Carly.

In his later years, Tom enjoyed being active, regularly playing pickleball with long-standing friends. He cherished socializing at the Detroit Athletic Club of which he was an active member. He was beloved by his neighbors of Lochmoor Boulevard residing at his residence for 34 years and spent time giving back to the community of Grosse Pointe Shores, serving on the Beautification Advisory Committee. He was also a dedicated officer of the AHEPA Dearborn Chapter.

In his professional life and career, Tom built a name for himself in the medical sales industry and continued to work up until his passing.

Tom and his family would like to extend a thank you to all those who visited him in hospice, brought food, made him laugh, and surrounded him with love in the last months of his life. We are happy that he is resting in peace. His legacy will be carried forward in the many people he touched in this world.

A visitation for Thomas will be held Friday, January 27, 2023 from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM at A. H. Peters Funeral Home, 20705 Mack Ave, Grosse Pointe Woods, MI 48236. A trisagion will occur Friday, January 27, 2023 at 5:00 PM, 20705 Mack Ave, Grosse Pointe Woods, MI 48236. A visitation will occur Saturday, January 28, 2023 from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM at St Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Church, 36375 Joy Rd, Westland, MI. A funeral service will occur Saturday, January 28, 2023 at 10:00 AM at St Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Church, 36375 Joy Rd, Westland, MI.
