To Madrina, and to all your children and grandchildren. I cannot imagine how you must be feeling , Ségolène and I, want to begin by giving you our sincerest condolences. We are here to talk, to listen and to keep the memory and legacy alive.

So many things to say, so many different emotions I would want to express. Perhaps I will have the chance to do so in person soon.

Uncle Tom was and will remain in our hearts and minds everytime we take out the chessboard. He has always been welcoming, and Ségolène felt so at ease when she was with him. I remember almost every conversation I ever had with him. I used to dread the questions thinking I was being tested, but it was curiosity that drove him and he never judged us on our answers, and because of our conversations at lunch or dinner, he ate even slower than I did!

I remember him as always looking to be better, always trying to improve, even in games of chance!

His knowledge was boundless and we admired how he could share information on almost any topic.  I’ll always remember how he taught our grandchildren to play chess, and, peaked their interest in playing the piano, which they continue to this day.

His legacy and love for you and his family will live on and be an example to others to hold in high regard.

Your departure comes too soon for us. Now you are blessed, seated at the table of our Lord, your deserved natural place.
You were nothing but a kind, generous, loving, caring, man of faith. You welcomed all the Boueri family members that set foot in your home with open arms. Your never complained when we crazy Lebanese spoke Arabic around you. You managed to make all of us, young and less young, feel at home. 
You offered each of us a free dental visit every time we visited.
You would always be kind and let us finish your puzzle with a smile.
Loosing was not an easy task for you. You made me laugh.
You taught us caring through your actions: Good Morning Mama, God bless you, Habibte… you even answered me when I said “Kifak Tom….” with “Mni7a”.
You would work hours to connect the TV so Mama could watch her channels. You would give me your bicycle to try, teach others with passion when they wanted to learn chess or any other game.
I could go on for days. Tom, Detroit will not be the same without you, the family will be missing a great person. 
To my sister, my nieces, nephews and the younger generation, the Sloan siblings my sincere condolences and my love.

Dr. Sloan was the only doctors appointment that I always enjoyed going to. He was always smiling and such a joy to know all these years. As a child, his father was my first dentist and after his retirement, I started seeing Tom.  He was a gentleman and scholar and I always left his office learning something new, actors, singer songwriters were his favorite conversations. Apart from being our trusted, honest dentist and his work on my pearly whites was the best, he was a man of God and so loved his family. He will be sorely missed here on earth but in heaven welcomed as one of our Lords children. God bless you Tom.

So sorry to hear about Tom, he was always the nicest guy. All of us at the Peters family send our best wishes. I wish I was in town to attend.

Dear Sloan family - I wish to express my sincere condolence. Dr. Sloan has been a part of my family for the past 40 years.  While in the chair, I have enjoyed experiencing of births of his children and grandchildren; their graduations, trips abroad, marriages, and other milestones in their lives - and he was there for mine. Dr. Sloan was a kind and generous soul. He always made time to schedule in an appointment for me when I “popped into” Detroit each year, and I enjoyed our chats during appointments. 

Truly, there will not be another experience for me and my family - both personally and professionally - as we have had with Dr. Sloan. Since moving away, it has been difficult for me to find another dentist to match the caliber of Dr. Sloan's standard of care – and truthfully, I haven’t yet. He set the bar that high. My family and I mourn your loss, but we wish that you too will gain solace in the knowledge that he is at rest, and that he used his life to contribute to the health, enjoyment, and well-being of many, many people whose lives he touched.

To the entire Sloan family my  deepest condolences for Dr. Tom. I didn’t know him, but I was a patient of his father’s. My mother and my sister stayed with Dr. Tom ever since. I’m sure everyone will have the fondest memories of him, but remember when God call us home, he calls us by name.

Tom was in the same alter-server group with me, John Abele, and Mike O’Neil.
I think he joined right after moving to the area. He was always quietly positive and part of community! 
Tom will be missed!

Not only my Dentist but a dear friend to me and most of my family. We were patients of his father as well. Our very common interest was music! So very sad to hear of his passing. My deepest condolences to his wife and children.
