

Vasil Lalo was born in Radove, Albania on March 8, 1933. He was the son of Vangjeli and Sotir Lalo and brother to Thanas, Frosina Zeqo (neé Lalo), Pandeli, Flora, Koco, Margarita Tirana (neé Lalo), and Robert.
He spent his early childhood in his beloved village of Radove and later moved to Tirana where he studied arts. In 1962, he married his sweetheart Fatbardha Lalo (neé Reçi) and together they have two children, Denio Lalo and Irida Siebentritt (neé Lalo). He was a proud and doting grandfather of Enxhi, Anna, Christopher, and Peter and beloved father-in-law of Edlira Lalo and Carl Siebentritt.
Vasil began his career as a special effects artist exploring the beauty and wonders of the art of cinematography. Later, he discovered his passion for political satire when he became a political cartoonist for one of the most prominent publications in Tirana called "Hosteni" Vasil was a very prolific and published artist whose work has been praised and awarded internationally. Though his academic training was in sculpting, Vasil enjoyed working with all types of mediums and had tremendous success. He enjoyed political journalism, too and was always keen on engaging in discussions and debates about contemporary and global issues. He had a great sense of humor and enjoyed cooking and travel, but above all he loved music. The Italian opera had a special place in his heart. He was an art teacher most of his life and is still celebrated by his former students as someone whose passion for the arts inspired future generations of artists.
A visitation for Vasil will be held Friday, June 3, 2022 from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM at A.H. Peters Funeral Home, 20705 Mack Ave, Grosse Pointe Woods, Michigan 48236.
