Vic was a devoted husband, loving father and grandfather, and a cherished brother, uncle, cousin, coach, mentor, and friend. He touched countless lives through his kindness, wisdom, and unwavering dedication to young people.
Born in Detroit in 1954, Vic was raised by his widowed mother, whose love of sports shaped his own passion at an early age. That passion became a lifelong calling. After playing basketball in high school and college, Vic devoted his career to education and athletics, serving as a coach, educator, administrator, and ultimately the longest-tenured Director of Athletics for the Detroit Catholic High School League. He took great pride in working with students and student-athletes and made a lasting impact on generations through his leadership, integrity, and encouragement.
Vic’s personality was larger than life. He had an infectious smile, a gift for knowing exactly what to say, and a remarkable ability to make everyone feel seen and valued. He was a trusted problem-solver and peacemaker, often the first person others turned to for thoughtful advice and steady guidance.
Above all, Vic was deeply devoted to his family. In recent years, his greatest joy came from watching—and coaching—his grandsons as they played multiple sports, beautifully blending his love of athletics and family. After 48 years of marriage, Vic and Linda continued to enjoy traveling, entertaining, and spending time with family and friends.
Vic was preceded in death by his parents, Victor and Victoria; his brother, Joe; and his sister, Eleanor. He is survived by his beloved wife, Linda; his brother, Gari; his sister, Sharon “Shoo Shoo”; his sons, Marc (Lia) and Brad (Stephanie); and his treasured grandsons, Victor (11), Evan (9), Drew (7), Jack (5), and Cam (2). He is also survived by many loving in-laws, cousins, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
