Vito W. Ciaravino

Vito W. Ciaravino, DDS, age 80 of Grosse Pointe Woods, passed away in Detroit on Sunday, March 3, 2013. He was born in Detroit on Thursday, October 6, 1932; the son of John and Frances (nee Coppola) Ciaravino. A graduate of DeLasalle High School in 1950, Vito proceeded to gain his Bachelors Degree in Science at U of D University in 1954 and then his Doctorate of Dental Surgery from U of D Dental School in 1958. Following dental school, Vito enlisted with the United States Air Force as a dentist from 1958 through 1960. An accomplished and successful man, dentistry was Vito's passion. He loved his profession and dedicated himself to the kind and compassionate care of his patients. Vito had a way of putting his patients at ease with his good-hearted nature and jovial personality. When Vito wasn't busy with his dental career, he could be found on the golf course where he achieved two holes-in-one throughout his lifetime. He also enjoyed playing cards, but most of all, he was a consummate family man. He adored his family and loved spending time with them. Being a man of strong faith, Vito was a longtime parishioner of St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church. He was also a longtime member of Lochmoor Country Club. Beloved husband of Ann Marie for nearly 50 years. They were married Saturday, May 11, 1963. Loving father of Steven (Laura), William, Ann (TJ) Kilroy and Matthew. Proud grandfather of Steven, Olivia and Janet; Carlo and Sam; and Harry and Layne. Dear brother of Salvatore and Mary Partyka. Also survived by many loving nieces, nephews and cousins. Visitation will be held Tuesday 2:00pm until 9:00pm at the A.H. Peters Funeral Home, 20705 Mack Ave. at Vernier Rd., Grosse Pointe Woods. Instate Wednesday 9:30am until time of Mass 10:00am at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, 21620 Greater Mack Ave., St. Clair Shores. Fr. Bill Sinatra will officiate. Entombment Wednesday at Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
