

William Vito Alfano, age 90, passed away peacefully on November 7, 2011. William was born in Detroit on April 28, 1921 to Leonardo and Vita Alfano. William held a paper route as one of his first jobs. He was the newspaper boy for Father Solanus Casey. William was an usher at the Mount Hope United Methodist Church for 25 years. He was an avid coin collector. He loved wrestling as well. He was a huge fan of the Red Wings and the Detroit Tigers. William was well known as a hardworking man. He worked two or more jobs for many years. William was the loving husband of Ruth (nee McClellan). He was also the loving father of Leonard, Marcia (Michael) Wyatt, Cynthia (Tom) Farrell, Robert L. Munck, and David (Sandra) Munck. Visitation will be held at A.H. Peters Funeral Home, 20705 Mack Avenue at Vernier Road, Grosse Pointe Woods, on Wednesday, November 9, from 12 to 9 pm. The funeral will be 10am on Thursday, November 10 at the funeral home. Pastor Henry D. Williams Jr. of Mt. Hope United Methodist Church to officiate, entombment to follow at Cadillac Memorial Gardens East Cemetery, Clinton Township, with Military Honors to follow.
