William S. Heath

William S. Heath, age 83 died peacefully on Sunday, January 25 at Beaumont Hospital in Grosse Pointe. Mr. Heath was a graduate of the Wayne State University Department of Mortuary Science and was employed as a funeral director at the R.G. & G.R. Harris Funeral Home in Detroit for over 30 years. He was a veteran of US Army serving in the Asiatic Theatre during World War II. He was a member of the Lutheran War Veterans where he eventually met his wife Vera. His hobbies were woodworking and fixing things. He is survived by his wife Vera R; their son, Roger and three grandchildren: Benton, Katie and Shaun. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, February 5, 2009 at the A. H. Peters Funeral Home, 20705 Mack Avenue at Vernier Road in Grosse Pointe Woods. Rev. Richard Ingalls, Jr. rector of Mariner's Church in Detroit will officiate. Visitation at the funeral home will be from 3:00 to 8:00 pm on Wednesday. Interment will at the Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly, Michigan. Memorial contributions to the Mariner's Church of Detroit; 170 E. Jefferson; Detroit, MI 48226 would be appreciated.
