Very sad to hear of Bill’s passing. I played many softball games with him in the 1980’ and ‘90’s. .

I had the pleasure and honor of working with Bill at the AG's office around the 1990's.  There was no problem or issue that Bill couldn't deal with.  He was so approachable and always responded positively and with thoughtful options and considerations.  My consistent memory is that he always-always had a smile on this face.  Smile down on us Bill.  You are fondly remembered.

I was very shocked to hear the news of Bill's passing!  My thoughts and prayers are with the family during this difficult time.  I met and worked with Bill during his time at the State Auditor's Office.  From day one, he was very approachable during the transition phase between administrations and we became good friends from that day forward.  Always had great conversations with Bill about work, sports and life in general and he would always lend a helping hand to others when he could.  There was never a dull moment with Bill and his great sense of humor that always had co-workers laughing and feeling less stressful at work; a joy to be around!  I also played in some golf outings with Bill that were competitive, but not so serious that we didn't have fun playing in; I'll never forget those times playing with him......PRICELESS!!!  You will be sorely miss Bill by all who had the pleasure of knowing you, but never forgotten!!!  Keep swinging the sticks up above, Bill!  RIP brother!!!

Bill was such a good human! A good man and always  made space for a quick chat and quick laugh. Always showed respect towards me and reminded me that the job I was doing mattered. I will miss Bill. My sincere love and prayers are with the family.

It’s hard to put into words the impact Bill had on my life, but I feel compelled to share a few thoughts in honor of a man who meant so much to so many.

Bill was not just a friend; he was a mentor in every sense of the word. His kindness and caring nature made it easy to approach him with questions or concerns, and he always took the time to listen. Whether I was seeking advice on a professional matter or simply needed a friend to talk to, Bill was there, ready to lend an ear and offer his wisdom.

One of the things I admired most about Bill was his sense of humor. His jokes and playful banter were a reminder that life is too short to take everything seriously. 

Bill was also refreshingly matter-of-fact. He had a way of cutting through the noise and getting to the heart of the matter, which I found incredibly refreshing. His straightforward approach was a testament to his integrity and authenticity. He taught me the importance of being honest and direct, qualities that I strive to embody in my own life.

Above all, Bill was encouraging. He believed in the potential of others and was always quick to celebrate their successes, no matter how small. His unwavering support gave me the confidence to pursue my goals, and I know I am not alone in feeling this way. I don’t think I would be where I am now if it weren’t for his guidance. 

Bill touched so many people’s lives. His kindness, humor, and wisdom will forever be a part of who I am, and I will be forever grateful for all that I learned from him.

To the kind man I met in Kohl’s today while shopping for funeral attire, you shared with me that you had lost your lifelong friend, Bill Cahill. Though we were strangers, I could see the deep sorrow in your eyes and the weight of your grief. It was clear that Bill was a remarkable person, someone whose presence will be sorely missed. I may not know your name, but I'm praying for you and for Bill's family—may you find peace, comfort, and strength in the memories you shared. Sir, if you ever come across this message, please know I am deeply sorry for your loss.

I worked with Bill in the AG’s Office for many years.  He was always so fun and had such a positive attitude. He will be missed by many. Our deepest condolences to his family.

Bill was a wonderful man and a great friend. I will miss sending him cookies and him saying I had “minions” to help with the antics in the office while he worked with us at Dodd.  He was a bright spot in our days and we enjoyed working with him.  The world lost a truly wonderful person.  My condolences to you and your family during this time.

Cahill family & loved ones, I am so very sorry for your loss.  I worked with Bill at the Attorney General's office for many decades...going back to the 1980s. He was always the first to offer a smile and a story whenever you would see him, he just had a way of putting you in a happier mood.  While he could chat with you about anything, his family and sports were absolutely his two favorite topics.  My thoughts are with you all at this unimaginably sad time.

As part of the AG office family, I wanted to share a memory of Bill.  This is from the Montgomery first year.  I will not speak for the then AG….. but I had NO idea what I was doing.  I think Bill realized I needed help.  He would stop by my office, smile, ask how I was doing, share a new Emeril recipe and commiserate about our latest round of golf.   It was the beginning of a friendship and mentorship where he helped teach me about the workings of the AG’s office.  He, Sharon Maynard and Doug Lumpkin leaned in to help me and so many others  learn our new responsibilities for the citizens of Ohio.  Bill was a bright, positive influence in my early professional days.  Over the years, our friendship continued and will stay in my heart. Everyone will remember Bill for his sense of humor he was always smiling and he truly made me laugh. But I will remember when I was having a hard time I was broken. I told him I needed to laugh. Instead he asked me what was up. We spoke for sometime and I walked away with comfort. Thanks Bill

My deepest condolences to Maureen and the entire family.  Having a friend like Bill, who made me laugh until I cried, was there to celebrate my successes, let me participate in an office golf outing only to get hit by my golf ball, made funny noises in elevators to embarrass me or others, and was always there when I needed a few words of wisdom. 

I will be forever thankful for Bill’s friendship and for giving me one of the greatest friendships for the last 40 years.  I will miss him dearly.

Our deepest condolences to Maureen and family.  I first met Bill in April, 1995 in the Attorney General's office, and we would see Bill and Maureen at the Grove City Lion's club party for the OSU v. Michigan weekend.  Bill was full of life.  He was great at his job.  And, he always had a kind word for everyone he met.  Our deepest sympathies, Frank and Frances Reed.

Bill has always took the time to say hi. I’ve seen many sides of his humor. What sticks with me is what he said to me. Forget about the others that love to ridicule keep being myself and keep having fun.  Well I’ve kept that with  so ,Bill I leave you this my friend.   What do you call a wireless mouse. Bill was a great friend, colleague and someone who always pitched in to help.  I worked with him at the AG‘s office for many years and several more years at the auditors office and then we both went back to the AG‘s office..  so many great memories conversations, and just always had that smiley smirk on his face.  RIP Bill, we will all miss you tremendously, thoughts and prayers to your family as they try to understand why you were taken too soon.

For the past 16 years Bill has been an amazing mentor to me.  I would not be where I am if it wasn't for him pushing me out of my comfort zone and seeing the potential in me. Beyond that I considered him a friend. He was always around to talk to and joke with, and he always told the best stories. Things won't be the same without him.

Great Memories with the GC Blues.  I miss those days and he put it all together.  He will definitely be missed.

Up until my retirement last November, I would stop into Bill’s office to get encouragement but mainly to get a great laugh. There was never a time that I have talked with Bill and not left feeling better. I wish I could have told him how much our talks  meant to me. Bill you  were one of a kind💔

They didn’t come any better than “Billy the Thrill Ca-hill” which was what I called with that always positive mood and smile on his face and personna. His positive attitude infected those around him at work or at pleasure. I was proud to attend his wedding to Maureen and what a great couple. Played some golf in the olden days. I found Bill to be the kind if guy where if you encountered him after many years, you could simply pick up where you left off.  He was a special person.

I worked at the AG office with Bill for years. He was a great friend his door was always open for any body . I went to him a lot. He really made it fun to work for him. He was funny away smiling. This news was heartbreaking 💔 he will truly be missed. Praying for his family..❤️🙏
