William Joseph “Bill” Cahill, 66, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, May 5, 2025. He was born July 23, 1958 in Columbus, Ohio. He was a devoted husband, loving father, and respected public servant. Bill dedicated much of his professional life to serving the public through his work at the Ohio Attorney General’s office, where he earned the admiration of colleagues and the trust of his community.
Outside of work, Bill found joy on the golf course, where he was known as a steady and good-humored player. Above all, Bill’s greatest love was for his family. His kids were the center of his heart and he would say “love you to the moon and back.”
Bill created family everywhere he went. He grew up in Grove City, raised his family there and leaves many lifelong friends. His AGO family will miss him, his antics and humor. His soccer family, the GC Blues, and the fun times during tournaments and practices. And his golf partner family – competitive but always a good time. His long-time neighbors will miss his love of using the snow blower and wearing “the hat”.
We will deeply miss his humor, comfort and gracious way he wanted to help others when he could.
Bill is survived by his wife of 35 years, Maureen; his children, Colin (Gabby) Cahill and Caitlin (Cameron Coup) Cahill; granddogs Lucy and Wilson; Gibbs his cat; his mother Florence (Dupler) Cahill; siblings Jeff (Stacy) Cahill, Steve (Debbie) Cahill; nieces Courtney (Matt), Erin (Matt); nephews Brent (Megan), Brad (Ami), Brian Cahill and their families; parents-in-law Hugh and Mary Jane Dowds; sisters-in-law Marcia, Alicia (Rob) and family; Nahrin and family; and many other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, William Michael Cahill.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 13, 2025 from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. at SCHOEDINGER GROVE CITY, 4242 Hoover Rd., Grove City. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, 3730 Broadway, Grove City, Ohio 43123. Interment Grove City Cemetery West.
We know all of his “families” have some great stories to tell about Bill and we ask that you share them with us. He leaves us with a smile and a warm heart.
