

Carol Jean Borghese, 86, passed away peacefully at her home in Grove City, Ohio, on December 26, 2024. She was born on July 15, 1938, to Mary and Walter Smith in Columbus, Ohio. Carol lived in Columbus for the majority of her life, with a few years spent in Florida before eventually returning to the Columbus area to be closer to family.
Known for her feisty personality, Carol lived life on her own terms, and her presence was always felt by those around her. She had a love for the finer things, whether it was indulging in a perfectly cooked steak or ensuring her nails were always manicured. She was an avid card player and enjoyed hosting gatherings with friends. Carol was also a talented cook, always finding joy in preparing meals for her family and friends. One of her daily pleasures was talking to her daughter, Lisa, who lives in Hawaii, and their phone calls were a cherished routine that kept them close no matter the distance.
In addition to her parents, Carol was preceded in death by her husband of 35 years, Leroy Borghese; her sister, Shirley Mitchell; her brothers, Jim and Wally Smith; and her grandson, Doug Wahrer.
She is survived by her children: Mark (Brenda) Wahrer, Lisa Borghese, and Fioravanti “Tony” Borghese; her siblings, Jack Smith, Richard Smith, and Connie Frasier; her grandchildren, Rachel Kimmet, Kimberly McMahon, Natalie Vanscoy, and Fioravanti Borghese II; as well as several great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
