Christopher “Chris” Finnegan, age 74, passed away peacefully on Monday, February 3rd, 2025, with loved ones at his side. Chris was born on July 24th, 1950, in Tecumseh, Michigan to his parents, Elray and George-ann.
A natural listener, Chris spent nearly 50 years as a licensed cosmetologist, most recently at Headline Styling Salon in Grove City. Inspired to do more and help others through his own experiences, he became a Peer Support Specialist at Lighthouse Behavioral Health Solutions in 2022. Never one to stop learning or stop helping, Chris became a Chemical Dependency Counselor Assistant and was continuing his education to become a Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor.
Chris was a member of Stone Village Church in the Short North Arts District and relied heavily on his faith in navigating his own path and helping others. Whether at work, in recovery, or at church, Chris brought a quiet gentleness and light wherever he went. His impact on those he helped will never be forgotten. Having found peace and purpose in sobriety, Chris was proud to be part of both the recovery community and the LGBTQ+ community.
Chris is survived by his daughter Rebecca Finnegan and his brother Barrie (Lottie) Finnegan. He is preceded in death by his grandparents, parents, and younger brother Dean Finnegan.
