On Monday, October 13, 2025, Dean Grossholz (91), a U.S. Air Force Veteran (1957-1963), closed this chapter of his story with his family gathered by his side in his final hours. His next adventure begins with God and his dog, Annie, and in the hearts and memories of those who loved him.
Dean leaves behind his bride of 37 years, Lucile Grossholz. Those who knew Dean knew that his love for Lucy was deep and everlasting. Their bond was built on years of God, laughter, and unwavering support for one another. His love for her was the cornerstone of his life and he cherished their 37+ years together. He is also survived by his children Gregory Grossholz, Darcy Sawmiller, Deborah Puterbaugh, Heidi (Geoffrey) Baldwin, Mikel (Chrissie) Grossholz, Wendy (Michael) Quinn, extra special step-son Pat (Greg) Wilt, step-sons Walter Wilt-Wright, Chris (Ruth) Wilt, Michael (Valerie) Wilt and sister-in-law Carla Sealens.
Dean is also survived by 18 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren: Elijah, Gabriel, Uriah, Zachary, Aubrey (Callie & Ella), Cody, Janey Ruth, Tyler, Emily (Isaac, Lily), Meredith (Grant, Lucy), Abigail (Brooks, Dean), Lucas, Alexis (Peyton, Evan, Kolbie), Ian, Mia, Beatrice, Christian (Mateo, Luca) and Chloe (Carter). He spoke of each one with love and admiration, treasuring the unique bond he shared with all of them. Whether near or far, every grandchild and then great grandchild held a place in his heart, and he carried their love with him every day.
Dean is predeceased by his parents, Theodore Grossholz and Hazel Vincent Kerns; his siblings, Hazel Briggs, Theodore Grossholz, Shirley O'Camb, Dorothy Williams, Thelma Jean Grossholz, and Darlene Grossholz; the mother of his children, Dorothy R. Grossholz; his daughter, Dore Grounds; two grandsons Mikel Joshua Grossholz and Elliott King; stepson, Gregory Wilt-Wright and brother-in-law Dennis Saelens.
In his early years, Dean found great joy in playing guitar, and he passed that love of music down to his children, leaving behind a soundtrack of memories that will forever play in their hearts. His talents extended beyond music he had a passion for building balsam wood model planes, a hobby that filled his home with intricate creations and sparked countless moments of joy and new tools (Home Depot trips). Dean was also known for his love of cars, and his friendship with Dr. Dave. The two would often spend hours discussing their favorite models, reminiscing about past adventures, and sharing stories of their shared passions.
Dean lived his life with quiet strength and a deep sense of gratitude for the simple joys that filled his days. He believed in hard work, being on time and doing right by others; values he instilled in his children and grandchildren through his example more than his words. His steady presence will be missed but never forgotten. Though he has left this world, his legacy continues in the love he shared, the stories he told, and the family who will carry his spirit forward.
We are grateful to all who shared stories, laughter, and love as we walked this journey with Dean, Dad, Daddyo, and Grandpa. These memories will continue to live on, bringing us comfort as we honor his life and legacy.
A special thank you to Luminary Hospice Care for the wonderful care they provided to Dean during his final days.

One final very special mention, written from Annie the Golden Retriever's perspective:
Annie's breed reveals Dean is a ray of sunshine on a cloudy day. He smiles, even when he is sad. He laughs and cries, too, but he is stronger than anyone realizes and he never gives up. Dean knows that life is short and precious and there is always hope. He is the sea, exciting to watch but dangerous when angered. He would do anything to protect his loved ones. ~ Annie Doggo
