

Donald Edward Penrod, 87, passed away Tuesday, February 3, 2026. He was born November 15, 1938 in Portsmouth, Ohio to the late Floyd and Nola (Chapman) Penrod. He attended Portsmouth High School and retired after more than 35 years of service at Sears, where he worked as a small-engine repairman. He was highly mechanically minded and took great pride in his skills. He loved Western films and collected John Wayne memorabilia. He was a member of the NRA for over 40 years and was a familiar face at McDonald’s, where he went every morning for breakfast. Don was very organized and tended to keep to himself. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Gary and Doug Penrod; infant son, Jeffrey Scott Penrod; uncles, Ray and Bob Chapman; and close friend, Tom Pack, son-in-law, Charlie Willeford. Don is survived by his loving wife of nearly 70 years, Phyllis Ann (Griffith) Penrod; daughter, Susie Willeford; son, Donnie (Wishona Moore) Penrod; grandchildren, Danielle (Ryan) Montgomery, Alix (Karleigh) Penrod, Rachel (Shay) South, Cody Willeford, Lucas Willeford, and Aaron Willeford; 4 great-grandkids; niece, Linda Pack; and many other relatives and friends. Visitation will be held Wednesday, February 11, 2026 from 11:00AM-1:00PM at SCHOEDINGER GROVE CITY, 4242 Hoover Rd., Grove City where funeral service will follow at 1:00PM. Interment Sunset Cemetery.
