Franklin Joseph Buchanan

Franklin Joseph "Joe" Buchanan, age 80, passed away Friday, August 18, 2023. He was born September 23, 1942 in Columbus, Ohio to the late Floyd and Lillian (Ritter) Buchanan. He was a graduate of Central High School and spent most of his career in retail. He retired from Big Lots. Joe enjoyed going to Scioto Downs Racetrack and betting on his favorite horses. His family was extremely important to him, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He loved them so much and was so proud of all their accomplishments. Joe had the biggest heart and was willing to help anyone that he came in contact with. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 26 years, Virginia L. “Ginny” Buchanan; granddaughter, Caitlin Horlocker; and son, Joey Buchanan. Joe is survived by children, John (Michele) Buchanan, Jake (Holly Kauf) Horlocker, and Jill (John) Justice; grandchildren, Zach Buchanan, Mitch (Shelby) Horlocker, Sam (Jamie) Buchanan, Tyler (Kassandra) Buchanan, Logan Ratliff, Seth (Reagan) Hammer, Courtney Horlocker, Danielle (Logan) Potts, Liv Hammer, and Liberty Justice; great-grandchildren, Mira, Ayla, Cameron, Viktor, Luka, Oaki, Collins, and Sadie; sisters, Sally Pilkington and Noreen (Gary) Barker; special friend, Evonne Daniels; and several relatives and friends. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Thursday, August 24, 2023 at Schoedinger Grove City, 4242 Hoover Rd., (HOOVER RD AT KINGSTON AVE), Grove City where the funeral service will be held 10:30 a.m. Friday.
