He was a proud graduate of Franklin Heights High School, Class of 1990, where he played both football and basketball. He was a dedicated employee of FST Logistics and known for his hard work and friendly spirit.
Jay was a man with a larger-than-life personality and an even bigger heart. He enjoyed cheering on The Ohio State Buckeyes, watching NASCAR races, and answering countless questions while watching an episode of Jeopardy. He found joy in life’s simple pleasures, including listening to all kinds of music, especially his favorite KISS songs. Jay was also a lifelong wrestling fan and was often told he resembled Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson.
Family meant everything to him. He adored his mother, faithfully checking in on and visiting her daily after the passing of his father. He loved spending time with his family, especially teasing his sisters and making everyone around him laugh. He never met a stranger, and his warm personality made people feel instantly welcome. Those who knew him will forever remember his famous bear hugs. They were the kind that could nearly crack your ribs.
He loved to cook and took great pride in preparing meals for others. He was known for his legendary “3 Day Spaghetti” and his special homemade sauce, meals that brought family and friends together time and time again.
Though he enjoyed moments of quiet reflection and time alone to think, his greatest joy was being a grandfather. He cherished every moment spent with his grandchildren and loved them deeply.
He will be remembered for his kindness, humor, generosity, and the love he shared so freely with everyone fortunate enough to know him. His memory will live on in the hearts of his family, friends, and all whose lives he touched.
He was preceded in death by his father, Jerry Dennis and his favorite dog, Liberty.
Jay is survived by his wife and sweetheart of 27 years, Rhonda Dennis; son, Jacob (Kat) Dennis; daughters, Ashley (Chris) Watters and Devon (Ed) Kirk; grandsons, Kian, Sean, Jayden, Ricky, and Ed Jr.; granddaughters, Lylah, Haley, and Olivia; mother, Luann Dennis; sisters, Gina (Rob) Heiser, Mindy (Steve) Simon; brothers, James “Bubba” McCallister and Tony Nickles; niece, Kayla (Ryan) Brenzel; nephew, Brady Simon; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, friends, and family.
