

Janet M. Wooten, age 83, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 5th, 2025. Born on October 14th, 1941, in Clarksburg, West Virginia, to James and Mildred, Janet was a beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
Janet dedicated many years to shaping young minds as a teacher and later as a childcare provider. Her love for animals and the cherished moments spent with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-granddaughter, brought endless joy to her life. Janet’s legacy of love and care will live on through her family, carried forward in their own circle of life and passed down through generations in the stories they share.
Janet will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing and loving her. Her family extends their heartfelt gratitude to Mount Carmel Hospice for their kindness and compassion during this difficult time.
Janet is survived by her children, Tera (Jeff) Tanner and Tina Wooten and her grandchildren Abigail (Ben) Vickers and Ashley (Miles) Spenos. Also her cherished great-granddaughter, Harper Vickers, her sweet sister, Sonja Lyerla and beloved niece and nephew, Jackie and Sam Chandler.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Ray and Mildred Hawkins, and her loving husband, Charles Wooten.
Janet’s family will receive friends on Thursday, May 15th, 2025, from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Schoedinger Norris Grove City, 4242 Hoover Road, Grove City, Ohio 43123. A funeral service will be held on Friday, May 16th, 2025 at 11am, at Schoedinger Norris Grove City, with Reverend Mark Jordan officiating. Janet will be laid to rest following the service at Obetz Cemetery on Friday, May 16th, 2025.
In lieu of flowers, the family has asked for donations to be made to Mt. Carmel Hospice in Janet’s memory.
