Born in Martins Ferry, Ohio, Kim was the daughter of the late Albert Meszaros and Eva (Meredith) Dehnart. She was also preceded in death by her beloved brother, Randy "Skip" Meszaros, and her cherished furry companion, Daisy.
Kim is survived by her devoted husband of 42 years, Gerald Cate; her loving siblings, Connie (Tim) Owen, Mark (Trisha) Meszaros, and Jennifer (Jerry) Tate; as well as many nieces, nephews, and friends whose lives were touched by her kindness and generosity.
A graduate of Ohio Dominican University, Kim dedicated many years of service to The Ohio State University, where she became fondly known as the “Cookie Lady.” With her signature warmth and hospitality, Kim would regularly hand out cookies to students, staff, and even celebrities—her unique way of connecting with others and spreading joy throughout the OSU and Central Ohio community.
A proud OSU football season ticket holder, Kim continued her legacy of giving by donating some tickets each year to charitable organizations, helping raise funds through raffles. Her generosity extended far beyond sports—always thinking of others, Kim supported many family members through their college journeys and was quick to lend a hand or a thoughtful gift.
Kim’s love for cooking was rooted in her Hungarian heritage, and she was known for creating delicious meals with heart and soul. Whether it was a quick weeknight dinner or a full holiday spread, she brought people together through food. She also had a passion for shopping, always on the lookout for something special for those she loved.
Kim's spirit of generosity, compassion, and community will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
